
Huni kui leaders from Acre mobilize to join collective forces to overcome many obstacles faced within their communities. For many years being products of colonization, having to accept everything that was imposed on them by government systems, NGOs and other private institutions in order to keep resisting to be able to exist. In 2015, the Huni Kui people, in a general assembly, decided to discuss with the local communities a model of HUNI KUI GOVERNANCE, seeking sustainable self-management without interference from NGOs and government, a governance with autonomy for the empowerment of the people.
On the 6th, 7th and 8th of June, in the region of Feijó, they gathered at the 1st REGIONAL FORUM HUNI KUI, which took place in Shubuã da Aldeia paroá, in the Katukina/Kaxinawá territory, where matters of collective interest to the local communities and at the of huni kui territories in the state, the forum was attended by the huni kui council coming from all the Huni kui territories in the state, this action, which is carried out by FEPHAC – Federation of the Huni kui People of the State of Acre, will take place in seven municipalities where inhabit the Huni kui people.
